Does South African government recognise HOCLl?

  • Until recently, HOCl was extremely expensive to produce and unaffordable for most consumers. Previously it was also exceedingly difficult to produce with a good shelf-life stability and/or high quality of the final product.
  • We are using the most advanced (3rd generation) reactors, state-of-the-art water-purification systems, and bespoke manufacturing processes to produce the highest quality product.

How is Sanot500 Hypochlorous produced?

We use ultramodern electrochemical processes coupled with curated scientific procedures that mimic white blood cells natural biochemical processes to dissociate pH-controlled salt-water solutions into a super-oxidizing, electrically charged, and pH-neutral solution. We have one of the most sophisticated systems in the world and the largest manufacturing capacity in Africa.

How must the Products be stored?

  • Store at or below room temperature out of direct sunlight or away from exposure to UV.
  • Ensure that the lid or cap is closed when being stored.
  • Do not mix or store with foreign liquids, organic materials, metals, dirty containers, unfiltered water, or any dangerous chemicals such as ammonium and alcohol-based compounds.

Are there any Disadvantages of Electrolysed Hypochlorous Solution?

  • It is UV-sensitive and has tampered efficacy when exposed to sunlight. Unlike many other sanitation chemicals, electrolysed hypochlorous solution does not have ongoing antimicrobial efficacy whereby it instantly reacts and degrades upon contact organic matter. This is also a beneficial quality since it does not require rinsing and is 100% biodegradable.
  • Since HOCl functions through oxidation, it also poses the risk of corrosion over extended periods of exposure to metals.

What make Hypochlorous different to traditional chlorination?

  • It is 80 to 100 times more effective against microorganisms than Sodium/Calcium Hypochlorite (Bleach), Chlorine Dioxide and Chlorine gas
  • Effective against a broad range of spores, viruses, bacteria, fungi, biofilms, and algae. No microorganisms have shown to have and/or develop resistance to HOCl
  • Short contact time and reduced concentration requirement for efficient disinfection
  • Low concentrations and lack of caustic components = less corrosive than Sodium/Calcium Hypochlorite
  • Substantially lower production trihalomethanes occurs
  • Eliminates scale (and pathogens within) as well as inhibits dissolved solids from forming new scale
  • Completely non-toxic and non-hazardous to handle, and does not require intensive attention and maintenance

How can SANOT500 product and derivatives be applied?

  • Dosing into a pump or reservoir system
  • Misting using high-pressure or ULV foggers
  • Spraying
  • Soaking
  • Rinsing
  •  Immersing
  • Wiping

Why is it important to ensure that a HOCl solution is as pure as SANOT500?

  • Although hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is growing in awareness, not all manufacturing methods can be regarded as equal. This is important since HOCl, as the body's own immune molecule, is always naturally found as 'pure'.
  • It is the composition of the carrier solutions (within which the molecule is held or hosted) that can have an impact on the stability and efficacy of HOCl, whereby the purer the carrier solution, the less chance there is for the HOCl molecule to become unstable.
  • The quality of your inputs into the manufacturing, coupled with advanced electrochemical processes, determines the quality of the product, whereby at SanOT we use the purest medical-grade inputs and have one of the most advanced systems in the world.

Are SanOT products free from Dangerous ChemicalS?

Hypochlorous solution is completely free from all pesticides, fragrances, as well as other commonly used sanitising compounds such as: Peracetic acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Formaldehyde, Phenols, Glutaraldehyde, QAC's, Bleach, Chlorine Dioxide and Alcohols.

How does HOCL chemically function? The science behind it?

Electrolysed Hypochlorous solution (HOCl) is naturally produced as an extremely effective biocide against pathogens, which was discovered in the 1800s. HOCl works in the body to kill, attenuate or break-down harmful microorganisms by destroying their cell membrane, DNA, RNA and proteins, as well as halting its growth processes. Better yet, your body’s immune cells (neutrophils – white blood cells) naturally produce HOCl as a completely non-toxic broad spectrum biocide which not only enhances cell healing processes but also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.

What are the Modes of Action for HOCl’s Anti-microbial effects?

HOCl not only directly attacks cell membrane proteins to deactivate and disrupt a microbial cell’s functionality, but it also increases the osmolarity potential across the cell membrane. The result of disrupted membrane proteins and increased osmolarity potential across the microbial cells causes them to rapidly absorb excessive amounts of acidic water and lyse from bursting. o It is a strongly oxidizing and deproteinizing compound that reacts with thiols, proteins, amino acids, DNA, RNA and carbohydrates. Therefore, if a cell is not instantly lysed from contact with HOCl, it becomes non-functional and unable to perform basic cell processes, such as glucose oxidation, DNA replication, RNA synthesis and protein production, eventually causing cell death.

What are the Modes of Action for HOCl’s Anti-Inflammatory effects?

Inflammation is caused by the activation of pro-inflammatory factors as a response to mechanical damage or infections. The presence of HOCl has various means and processes of anti-inflammatory actions, to neutralise and reduce inflammation. HOCl can neutralise harmful microbial toxins before they can trigger inflammatory responses in infected cells. HOCl also neutralises and inhibits the messenger proteins (such as NF-κB kinase) that are responsible for recruiting pro-inflammatory factors.

What are the Modes of Action for HOCl’s Cell/wound repairing effects?

Whenever an injury occurs, a cascade of complex responses occur to prevent infection, control bleeding and stimulate cellular repair. There are multiple ways in which damaged, dehydrated or non-functional cells are repaired, many of which are initiated or enhanced by the presence of HOCl. One of the first types of cells recruited to a wound site are white blood cells, which secretes HOCl. As a result of the release of HOCl, an increase in the production of cytokines (healing messenger proteins) and growth factors (stimulate cellular division) occurs. Taurine, an amino acid, is also chemically transformed to Taurine Chloramine which is a powerful wound healing factor.
